Determining Lifestyle and Stress Patterns

What are the different areas that are causing stress in a personÕs life? It may be environmental, inter-personal, poor sleep, lack of exercise, bad food choices, or eating patterns. Often times an outside, objective perspective is helpful in seeing the root cause of stress and how to alleviate it.

Exercise and breathing may be solutions. We can explore ways to release trapped emotions and stuck physical pain. We can address diet and food cravings, including the emotional component below the action.

Nutritional Counseling

Dietary recommendations can be selected, with your core constitution taken into account. The five flavors of food, from a Chinese medicine, must be consumed in appropriately balanced proportions. A person's illness may be relieved simply by adjusting their food choices. For example, they may be eating too much of one flavor (often sweet) or too little of another, perhaps sour.

Over the years I have gone from just prescribing herbs to including nutritional supplementation. Western Functional Medicine is a systems- based medicine, much like, though different from the way the Chinese explored systems based medicine thousands of years ago. Functional Medicine is based on scientific research and promotes nutrition, lifestyle decisions, appropriate natural supplements, and potentially lab testing, before the use of pharmaceuticals.

There is much to be gained by joining these two focuses to be serve a changing world. Imbalanced nutrients, improper eating habits, and/or lack of healthy food choices are just some of the ways people get off track and need assistance in re-balancing. Once re-balanced they not only feel well within their physical bodies, but their emotional and spirit-level health come on-line.

Cleansing

In both Western and Eastern Medicine, we hear more and more about the benefits of cleansing and detoxifying. Many people donÕt realize that what and how they eat could be the very cause of their low energy, body pain, sleeplessness, and lack of concentration (to name just a few). Cleansing allows our body, mind, and spirit to function more clearly, efficiently, and harmoniously.

Cleansing starts with a good understanding of which foods are beneficial and which ones hamper the smooth flow of energy and nutrients. Herbs and nutritional supplements are used to assist in the process of clearing out toxins and of strengthening the body. Lifestyle changes are integral to the success of a sustainable change from the average American diet to one that provides you with clarity and stamina to do all you want.

You may choose to do cleanses one-on-one with me, so I can tailor the cleanse to your exact needs. The other option is to participate in a group cleanse that I offer at different times during the year. For some people the group energy is essential in keeping them motivated and committed.
